The English squad will embark on their Euro 2028 journey at the Manchester City’s stadium, assuming they secure the anticipated passage for a championship hosted across the bulk of Britain and the Ireland.

City’s stadium has not hosted an English men’s match since eight years ago, when the visitors were defeated 2-1 in a exhibition match, but is expected to stage the England side for their inaugural game on Saturday 10 June 2028.

The team are scheduled to play their concluding group fixtures at Wembley, but, in the event of winning their group, their last-16 tie would occur at St James’ Park. Placing second would mean commencing the elimination stage at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Championship Opening and Rally

The tournament was inaugurated at an ceremony in central London on the previous evening. Key representatives from Uefa and the organizing bodies were confronted as they arrived the location by around fifty pro-Palestine demonstrators, who demanded the Israeli team to be kicked out from global football because of the situation in Gaza.

Signs were raised with phrases saying “Show Israel the red card” and “You are complicit”, while activists called out: “Kick Israel out.”

Event Fixture List

The first match of the tournament will be played at the Cardiff’s stadium in Cardiff, on Friday 9 June, a fixture that will involve the Welsh team if they make it.

Wembley will host the penultimate rounds and the title decider, which will be held on July 9, 2028 with a kick-off time at 5:00 PM.

It is hoped that an earlier kick-off, which will also be adopted for UEFA Champions League finals from next season, will cater to families and help engage a more diverse set of fans.

Host Nations

The Republic of Ireland are scheduled to play their opening match at the Dublin stadium and Scotland would do the same at Hampden Park.

The national sides of all four hosts will take part in the preliminary stage; two reserved places will be set aside for any that fail to qualify for Euro 2028 through the standard process.

Stadiums and Knockout Stage

The Birmingham venue and The North London arena round out the nine tournament locations. All will hold at least one playoff fixture, with the quarterfinal matches held at the national stadium of each host.

The qualifying draw will be conducted in Belfast, which was excluded as a venue city last year when it was revealed Casement Park could not be renovated in time, on 6 December 2026.
