A charity drive is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The project hopes to send support to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

A Chance for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it fails to, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”

Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.

“The song holds a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Production History and Star-Studded Lineup

The track was produced after a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the performance was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The diverse array of musicians featured on Lullaby encompasses a range of well-known figures from the scene. All were part of the September show, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was produced by a trio of producers and composers. The single showcases a combination of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the initiative have clarified that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These resources will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a representative said. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Obviously, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”

The reality in the region was characterized as its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of property reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.

“In that context, a few million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all raising awareness for this issue and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The song is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
