Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was expected for questions to be asked about his position following a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received significant support from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win of course but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I feel the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Reaction

Slot lamented familiar weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a spell of this nature with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until it is removed, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to where it needs to be, prove again the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
