Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is unclear and the United States has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.

It said wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
