Christantus Uche Fuels Straightforward Crystal Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite entering their maiden European adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding result that virtually secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight entry to the last 16, especially after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Opportunity
This match provided a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive match.
The Shelbourne side that had finished their league season were no match against a largely second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.
Dominance Asserted from the Start
In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.

Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.
Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for development in his game.
A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
