Wilfried Nancy stated he did not fear losing his job, claiming, “We are really close to things turning around,” despite sliding worryingly close to being fired with a comprehensive loss to their arch-rivals.

Another Meltdown Sees Old Firm Disaster

The Hoops had led their oldest rivals at half-time but a collapse after the break let Rangers to pull level on points with the defending Scottish Premiership champions. Nancy, who was hired from Columbus Crew, has now presided over six defeats in his first eight matches.

The coach continues to cling to the fact his team play well for a half at a time. “The level we had at times was exceptionally high. That happened. I could not say that if it was not the case. But that’s why, when it comes to wins, I said this is the same story. Which is why I feel we are nearly there to getting it right. But for the moment: the fine margins.”

“There were plenty of positives that we did, as was the case today. But now is sustaining it. My outlook would change if I didn't believe it. That’s why I am convinced we’re going to be able to turn things around.”

Röhl’s Cautious Response

Danny Röhl refused to contemplate a championship push in spite of what felt like a landmark win. “Step by step, then we can gradually build a challenge,” he said. “The confidence in the squad is excellent.”
